Morinaga Milk will launch nationwide from Tuesday, April 2nd, “PURESU Fermented Vinegar Drink Pomegranate Flavor” and “PURESU Fermented Vinegar Drink Muscat Flavor,” the first in Japan  as functional labeled foods that are described on the package for the effects of acetic acid and bifidobacteria and do not use vinegar as an ingredient.

Amidst the diversification of lifestyles, there is a growing interest in products that can incorporate multiple health functions in one. Among them, the vinegar beverage market, which is consumed with expectations for health, beauty, refreshment, and fatigue reduction, has expanded significantly, approximately doubling in five years.

Against this background, we will release “PURESU Fermented Vinegar Drink,” which offers a taste that is “tangy yet mellow” and conveniently incorporates three health functions in one bottle.

This series is a new health beverage created by carefully fermenting by-products such as “whey,” which contains nutrients such as protein and carbohydrates produced in the process of cheese manufacturing, with our functional material “Bifidobacterium BB536.” As vinegar is not used in the ingredients, there is no strong acidic taste, and it offers an unprecedented “tangy yet mellow” flavor, with 95%*3 of respondents finding it “delicious.” We offer two flavors: sweet and sour pomegranate and refreshing muscat, so you can enjoy according to your mood.

This product is a functional labeled food with acetic acid and “Bifidobacterium BB536” as functional contributing ingredients. Acetic acid has been reported to reduce fatigue levels equivalent to daily life exercise (5-6 METs), reduce abdominal fat (visceral fat, total abdominal fat) in those with a tendency toward obesity, while “Bifidobacterium BB536” has been reported to improve the intestinal environment of the colon and regulate intestinal function.
