Maruha Nichiro Corporation (Headquarters: Koto-ku, Tokyo, President: Ikemi Masaru) announced the nationwide release of “DHA-enriched Lisala Sausage ωOmega” from the Fish Sausage “DHA-enriched Lisala Sausage” series starting February 1, 2024. This product is the first of its kind in Japan as a specific health food with the potential to reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases. Cardiovascular diseases refer to a collective term for illnesses related to the heart and blood vessels, ranking as the second leading cause of death in Japan after “malignant neoplasms (tumors).” Additionally, the number of deaths due to cardiovascular diseases among the Japanese population is on the rise.
In response to this, Maruha Nichiro aims to offer a convenient way to reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases in everyday dietary habits and has introduced “DHA-enriched Lisala Sausage ωOmega” as a “Disease Risk Reduction Indication Special Health Food.”
The product’s features include being rich in DHA and EPA, with these components serving as involved ingredients that may potentially reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases. This fish sausage is the first in Japan to obtain approval as a “Disease Risk Reduction Indication Special Health Food.”
