Suntory Foods International (BF) announced on the 17th that it will launch a new product, “Guilty Carbonated NOPE,” on the 24th. This marks the first launch of a major brand in approximately 14 years. The company aims to attract consumers under 30 who are tending to move away from carbonated beverages.
The drink has a higher sugar content than typical carbonated beverages and combines the aromas of fruits and spices to create an “addictive taste” (according to Takumi Otsuki of the Brand Marketing Department). The company focused on “guilt consumption,” where people eat high-calorie foods while feeling guilty to relieve stress.
The 600ml bottle has a suggested retail price of 216 yen. The shipment target by 2030 is 10 million cases (1 case = 24 bottles). This is the first new brand to be launched with large-scale promotion since “Green Da-Ka-Ra” in 2012.
