Available at mass retailers and online stores in Tokyo from Wednesday, August 6, 2025

Kinish Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Hiroya Hashizume) will launch a new rice-based plant-based ice cream brand, “The Rice Creamery,” on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.

The Rice Creamery is a rice ice cream brand that places rice at the center of its offerings amid a rapid growth in the alternative milk market due to concerns about milk allergies and growing environmental awareness. With the motto “The Gentleness of Rice. The Happiness of Ice Cream,” the brand uses rice instead of milk to deliver ice cream that is both delightful for the soul and good for the body.

Prior to its release, many people sampled the product at tastings both inside and outside the company and at exhibitions, and we received many positive comments, such as “It’s rich and flavorful, but has a pleasant aftertaste,” and “It’s very satisfyingly delicious.”

It is also designed to be 100% plant-based, making it an ice cream that is kind to both the body and the earth, with the following features:

  • 113-122kcal per cup

  • 60% less sugar*

  • 62% lower greenhouse gas emissions compared to dairy-based ice cream**

*Standard Tables of Food Composition in Japan (8th Edition), Revised and Expanded, 2023, Carbohydrate Composition Table, Comparison with Regular Fat in Ice Cream
**LCIA indicators that affect global warming calculated based on the LIME2 model are displayed. Secondary databases include IDEAv3 and ecoinvent v3. (Measurement tool: QuonCrop’s “My Eco Ruler” / Measurement month: March 2025)
