On June 11th, Morinaga Milk Industry Clinico (Tokyo) will release three flavors of the “Sunkist Onna Kiuki Satisfying Fruit” series of nutritional supplement drinks that make it easy to get dietary fiber as functional foods – “Apple,” “Tangerine,” and “Muscat” – as well as a “Various Set” that contains an assortment of these flavors.
The “Dietary Reference Intakes for Japanese (2025 Edition)” published by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare *1 recommends consuming “at least 25g of dietary fiber per day” to maintain good health. However, the average intake *2 of Japanese people is only 19.2g for men and 17.3g for women, making inadequate intake an issue.
The new product contains guar gum hydrolysate (dietary fiber), which has been reported to increase beneficial bacteria (bifidobacteria) and improve the intestinal environment . Each bottle contains 75 kcal of fruit juice and contains 5.0 g of dietary fiber (4.0 g of which is guar gum hydrolysate).
The “Sunkist Onaka Kiuki Manzoku Fruit” series is primarily aimed at hospitals and nursing homes, but can also be purchased by regular households. It can be purchased at pharmacies and through Morinaga Milk Industry’s mail order site.
